The story of Jericho shares what is probably the absolute worst battle plan of all time from a strategic standpoint. Here’s the plan:
1. Walk around the city once.
2. Be completely quiet.
3. Go back to your camp for the rest of the day.
4. Repeat steps 1, 2 & 3 five more times.
5. Walk around the city seven times
6. Blow trumpets and yell.

That’s crazy, right? I bet when Joshua laid out that plan, there were some who said, “You know, that sounds great. But maybe, just something to consider, we build some siege equipment. Ladders and stuff, and then climb the wall.”

Strategically, it’s a much better move… except for one thing. The crazy plan, with all the walking and yelling, that’s what God told them to do.

As Paul says in 1 Corinthians, the foolishness of a God is greater than the wisdom of man. Sometimes, God calls us to do crazy things. Things that don’t seem to make sense. In those times, we have to decide if we are going to follow God’s plan or our own. Here’s a tip: always go with God.
